The contributions and legacy of John Donald Robb are the focus of an upcoming class being
offered by OASIS, a program that provides learning opportunities to
people 50 years and older. David Oberg, a longtime conductor and music educator,
will teach the two-session course, titled, Who was John Donald Robb? The
course will take place from 10:30 a.m.-noon on Thursday June 7 and June 14. Cost is $14.

John Donald Robb's Requiem made its St. Louis debut when
the piece was performed by The Bach Society of Saint Louis, conducted by A. Dennis Sparger, on April 29 at Ladue Chapel Presbyterian Church. The 1985 piece, Robb's last major composition, written when he was 93, was featured along with a new work by Stephen Mager.

The UNM Robb Trust Composers' Competition is open to all interested national (USA) composers. There is no age limit, and students are welcome to apply. The winning composer must be present at the 2013 Composers' Symposium for the acceptance of the award and for a performance of his/her composition.

The works of more than 50 modern composers with ties to New Mexico were highlighted during the 2012 John Donald Robb Composers' Symposium, which took place from March 22-31 on the University of New Mexico campus and at venues across Albuquerque and in Santa Fe. Daily concerts, lectures and master classes also were featured at the annual event.

The John Donald Robb Musical Trust has more than four dozen compositions that are ready to
be performed. These compositions are divided into seven major areas: orchestral, chamber
music, piano, organ, vocal, choral and opera.
Recent additions include Robb's Requiem, and to celebrate the New Mexico Centennial, Song for New Mexico.
